Welcome to the Prosperous Artist blog!

This blog is an extension of my newly launched dream business, Prosperous Artist Academy –where I intend to help artists grow their creative businesses and sell more art.

First, let me share with you the reasons for challenging myself and creating this enterprise.

Many of the artists, performers and instructors that know me will tell you I love to be busy. I would often have several programs, events and workshops scheduled –often simultaneously. Who doesn’t love a great art event!

Well this busy schedule came to a screeching halt when my husband, Brian was diagnosed with cancer. It was 2017 and I had just completed my Master’s degree in Arts Administration. His cancer is Stage 4 and we were told it is terminal. Our complete focus turned to discovering ways to extend his life. Since then we have seen many doctors and traveled across the world learning and applying therapies. His regimen day-to-day is very detailed and time-consuming. But he is stead-fast and truly an inspiration to me and all who know him. We are truly grateful for the good days we have been blessed with! (Sorry this got a bit heavy…)

During my career hiatus I’ve business consulted with many of the professional artists I’m lucky to call friends. This informal role increased when the Covid pandemic hit and many artists were in need of business advice. The pandemic dried up many of the sales channels these artists depended on. This left many financially drained and looking for ways to revive their art sales. I realized that so many artists lack the business skills to endure a crisis and many do not have the basic business skills to truly prosper as an artist at the best of times.

These artists work very hard to produce or perform truly inspired art, yet still struggle to make consistent sales and stay in business. It was heartrendingly hard for me to sit, stay quiet and watch this unnecessary tragedy play out.

With my career experience and education laser focused in the arts, I knew I could make a difference. These talented artists need to be empowered with business skills, tools and advice to tackle the challenges of business while embracing the “coloring outside the box” flair they bring to their art.

I have had the good fortune of working exclusively in the arts for over 20+ years. I’ve loved every minute! I’ve owned a design studio, taught college art courses, was an art administrator for a nonprofit community art center, a curator and also owned a niche art gallery- e-commerce business. Phew… I’ve been busy!

Now I’m thrilled to be supporting artists with the resources they need at Prosperous Artist Academy.com. I truly hope you will join me on this journey –tell an artist friend and help build a community that nurtures artists.

All My Best,

Cynthia
